Winners Presentation
Joanna Sowa graduated in Neuroscience at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow in 2013. Her master’s thesis concerned the impact of prenatal stress on excitatory synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity in the frontal cortex. In 2013, she began PhD studies in Neuropsychopharmacology, in the Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow. Her studies, in general, are focused on electrophysiological properties of brain structures involved in stress response. Her PhD thesis concerned electrophysiology of the dorsal raphe nucleus in normal and stressful conditions. Currently, she leads her own research project PRELUDIUM, funded by the National Science Centre, Poland, focused on effects of prenatal stress on properties of neurons and synaptic transmission in dorsal raphe nucleus of the rat.
Łukasz Chrobok is a PhD student at the Department of Neurophysiology and Chronobiology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. In 2013, he graduated from Neurobiology at the Jagiellonian University with the BSc title, and due to the Diamentowy grant programme (Ministry of Science and Higher Education), he started his PhD research without obtaining MSc title. His main scientific interest focuses on the rat lateral geniculate nucleus, its modulation by orexins and its disturbances in absence epilepsy. Lukasz Chrobok is an author and co-author of 12 research papers, 1 review and numerous conference presentations.
Young Investigator Award
The Polish Neuroscience Society Young Investigator Award is a biennial prize donated by the Society and is given in recognition of outstanding scientific work in any area of neuroscience to a PhD student under 30 years of age at the deadline of nomination.Candidates must be Polish Neuroscience Society student/ordinary member working in a Polish research institution or university and must register and submit an abstract.
Individuals may apply themselves or be nominated by fellow neuroscientists.
The Awardees are invited to present a short Lecture during PTBUN meeting.
How to apply: The application must be received no later than April 30, 2017.
After registration to 13th PNS Meeting the following documents have to be sent via e-mail to:
secretary@ptbun.org.pl
- CV of the applicant, with the short statement on the most valuable achievement.
- A STRUCTURED ABSTRACT (Introduction, Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusions) submitted to the Meeting, describing the novel data which were not published yet.
- Letter of recommendation from the Promotor/Co-promotor of the PhD thesis. Successful applicants will be notified by June 30, 2017.
